The Edmonton Numismatic Society (ENS) Newsletter

The Planchet is published seven times per year. Each issue is published with original articles written by club members who aim to entertain and inform readers about coins and their coin hobby.

Several club members write regularly for the Planchet; Wayne Hansen, Marc Bink, Terence Cheesman, and Wayne Jacobs provide us with a steady stream of high quality and interesting content. They would love some help. We rely on club member contributions to keep our publication fresh and alive.

We therefore invite you to participate! Share your knowledge and enthusiasm for your collecting interests by writing an article on any numismatic subject that interests you. You don’t need to step out of your comfort zone. You could write about what you know and what you think is fun, or you could broaden your knowledge by further investigating a particular coin or a special area of your collection.

Write an article as simple as one page, or a longer article up to five or six pages if you like. Original images are welcome, or we can help find pictures for your article. Don’t worry if you think you are not a good enough writer. Make the submissions as concise and readable as you can, then our editors can add finishing touches as required.

The Royal Canadian Numismatic Society (RCNA) has recognized the Planchet as the best Canadian club newsletter for 2010 and every year from 2015 through 2021. The RCNA also reviews club articles and an award is given annually to the author of the best numismatic article published in a local Canadian coin club newsletter. The ENS also has a Volunteer Recognition Program. If you write a Planchet article, you will receive a Silver Maple Leaf coin at the end of each year. You will also become eligible for an annual Planchet volunteer gold coin draw.
