Feedback from the Community…

2021/02/24 – Pam

Thank you so so much! Very helpful, I appreciate it greatly! You are so kind! I had a piece of art I was trying to find out about and every single person I tried to reach out to was so rude and would not help me so I really appreciate your kindness and how helpful you have been!

2020/10/11 – Michelle

Hello again, Thanks for helping me understand what I had and what to do with the box of coins given to me by my grandfather.  As I didn't understand what best options were and  as much as I’d love to keep them, I felt like they should be enjoyed by someone as much as my grandfather enjoyed them. So, I've decided that I'll keep them in hopes that my children might enjoy them as my grandfather had.

2021/02/01 – Colin

Thanks for your direction and assistance with how to deal with my fathers collection. I'll be sure to let you know how I make out with it.

2021/01/24 – Robin

Thanks for this valuable information and your advice – it is a service to the community. I’ll let you know how we get on!

Olympic Coinage

Olympic Coinage By: Roger Grove If you are looking for something to collect, why not work towards a collection of Olympic coinage? We are all familiar with the multitude of issues from the Royal Canadian Mint, issued for Vancouver 2010, which can easily be found in your pocket change. What about all the other countries […]

1965 Pennies Explained By: Marc Bink, with Photos and research by Dean Silver Pointed 5 verse Blunt 5 The 1965 run of Canadian pennies has always been one of the most confusing to beginning collectors. It usually takes a long time for the beginning collector to determine whether or not the “5” is blunt or […]

A Denarius of Nero

BEFORE HE BECAME A MONSTER “A Denarius of Nero” By: Terry Cheesman Nero has been for a long time an exemplar of the cruel and corrupt Roman Emperor. This is a title which he does have a valid claim. Though it is unlikely that he set fire to the city of Rome in order to […]

A Wild Time in the Harz

A Wild Time in the Harz By: Marc Bink Last month I wrote an introduction to German Thalers, with the hopes that I would be able to generate a few articles on some of my favourite ones. This month I’ll focus on one from the wilds of the Harz Mountains, in the Duchy of Braunschweig-Wolfenbuttel, […]

1895 Colonial Wars Relic

1895 Society of Colonial Wars Relic Medal By: M. Goudreau As those of you who know me can attest, I collect numismatic items from across a wide spectrum of fields, I am however always looking for items with Canadian connections. One item that sparked my interest, although issued in the United States in 1895 by […]

Tax Time

Tax Time (121 A.D. The Emperor Hadrian) By: Terrance Cheesman In this joyous time when citizens are lining up to pay their taxes, it is nice to look back on an event in the Roman Empire. In 121 A.D. The Emperor Hadrian minted a Sestertius advertising what would be called today a tax holiday. On […]

The U.S. Standing Liberty Quarter 1916-1930

The U.S. Standing Liberty Quarter, 1916-30 By: Marc Bink Imagine if you will; a protest of thousands of people taking place in front of the Parliament buildings; – over a lousy quarter! This sort of thing did happen once, but not in Canada, it happened in the United States in 1917. All it took was […]

Certified Graded Coins

Certified Graded Coins By: Roger Paulen At Boston Pizza following the December ENS meeting, an interesting debate took place regarding the place of certified coins or “slabs” in our hobby. That discussion prompted me to write this article for our ENS members, particularly those who are young and/or new to the hobby. Coin grading is […]
